What is a Kodiak Canuck? By the very word Canuck, I could say I'm a born Canadian, or I could say I follow the "Vancouver Canucks", which is one of six Canadian teams in the National Hockey League. I grew up on an island in British Columbia, and now live on an Island in the North Pacific, known as Kodiak, the "Emerald Isle".

I was born in Vancouver British Columbia, and grew up on Gabriola Island near the Vancouver Island city of Nanaimo, where I attended Jr. High and High School, traveling each day by ferry. I am one of four siblings. My ancestry is Scottish, where in 1800 my ggg grandfather James Ross settled in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, in a community called Margaree. Three other grandfathers were born in Cape Breton including my grandfather James Alexander Ross who moved to the West Coast of Canada where my father Donald was born. I guess you might say island living has been a big part of my family and my heritage.
